'Wonderful vocals and musicianship and an amazing stage presence, Du Glas should never be missed.' Steve Appleby - Cornwall Folk Festival

Du Glas offer their own original brand of roots music, combining influences from Americana and British folk-rock. Born out of the vibrant Cornish music scene, their sound is inventive and energetic, drawing on traditional melodies and marrying them to a modern rhythmic feel. Their energy and musicianship, combined with a great selection of songs, guarantee an enthusiastic response wherever they play.

It all began for Du Glas (Cornish for ‘black’ and ‘blue’) in 2016 when Lucy Osborne (lead singer and songwriter) and Anthony Power (guitarist and songwriter) began performing at open mic nights in West Cornwall. Lucy’s background in theatre and Anthony’s timeless melodies ensured that the duo captured audiences’ hearts with their emotional and dynamic performances. They have since teamed up with other talented local musicians, namely Kevin Cook on drums and percussion, Phil Power on bass and the sweet sounds of Lou Peixinha on flute and violin. Together this spirited group mould their different musical tastes to create a diverse set of folk/country rock.

In December 2018 Du Glas released their debut album ‘Too Many Ghosts’ which led them to play music festivals across the West Country including Cornwall Folk Festival and the main stage at Wonder Fields, Exeter. The year 2020 did not get them down as the band kept themselves busy with online appearances and released a number of singles including ‘I Can Buddy’ which was described by The Mail on Sunday as an ‘anthem of the fierce Cornish women’.

Their second album, 'The Edge of the World', a collection of songs inspired by the band's West Cornwall homeland, was released in May 2021 and the band have enjoyed a busy summer with appearances at festivals across the south of England including Bridport Folk Festival and Chickenstock in Kent. They haven't neglected their home base either, wowing crowds at the Cornwall Folk Festival, the St Ives September Festival, Penlee Park Open Air Theatre and the Acorn Theatre.

Du Glas are now busy writing material for a third album and looking forward to performing around the UK and Europe in 2022.

'Du Glas came and played for us on the FAR Stage at Cornwall Folk Festival. They had played for us the previous Festival in 2019 and we were eager to have them back.

What a great decision that was. The energy, look, musicianship, choice of material and audience communication was immense. The quality of performance was outstanding, successfully encouraging the audience to get involved, (it was impossible not to). All ages enjoyed the blend of Americana/Country/Folk and just the right amount of Rock for the occasion.'  Steve Appleby

‘Excellent, absolutely fantastic’ Craig Freeman, WKS on Coast FM

‘[Too Many Ghosts] is such a beautiful song, we absolutely loved the strong folk instrumentation and the lovely vocal harmonies’ - Maisonneuve Music
